Did you know that seahorses and pipefish are unique in that it is the males which become pregnant and carry the offspring!? The eyes of the seahorse can move in all directions allowing it to look without moving its body. Its tail is prehensile and used to grip seaweed. It sucks up prey with its long snout. It's a fascinating creature.

This seahorse is a linoleum block print in a limited edition of 30 prints. I carved the reverse-seahorse in linoleum, inked the block and transferred the image to plum-colour kozo (mulberry) paper from Japan, by burnishing by hand with a barren. The seahorse is approximately 12.5" (31.8 cm) tall and it is printed with a generous margin for framing. The sheets are 16 inches (40.6 cm) tall and 6 inches (15.2 cm) wide.

The final photo shows how I've framed my own copy of this print in a vintage frame. (The frame is not included in this listing).
