Description

What a rare find!

These wonderful midcentury black and gold bookends are the perfect vintage touch for any study, child's room, or eclectic bookcase/mantel arrangement. They feature a basketball player wearing a fantastic collared jersey, mid-dribble, atop a book, next to another book, which forms the "L" of the bookend. Gorgeous richly glazed porcelain is accented with hand painted gold brushstrokes.

Each bookend stands 5.75" tall and has a 3" wide and 1.5" deep base. Marked "Japan" and in great condition for their age, they are chip, crack free, with only a bit of light crazing and a few rubbed spots (that seem original to the piece) and some spots where the gold has developed a hint of verdigris. Just gorgeous!

Sister Sassafras makes every attempt to accurately describe her wares - flaws and all - but the assessment of vintage items is a subjective/personal matter. Please carefully consider the photographs provided and reach out to us with any questions you might have.

Shipping policies

Shipping quotes are for our preferred shipping method, USPS Priority Mail. For larger items, we'll use USPS Retail Ground, which it is much more economical and slightly slower. With both methods a tracking number and insurance will be provided.

We love to combine shipping. The more you shop, the more you save!

International orders are generally not a problem. Please convo with your location and she will do her best to shred international red tape and provide you with the opportunity to purchase the item.
