The kitchen witch is found in the folk lore of many countries. In Germany, a witch in the house is said to bring good luck. In some cultures a bundle of wheat in the home brings abundance. My kitchen witch woven of wheat covers both!

My witch is an original design, woven of black bearded durum wheat. She measures approximately 12 by 12 inches.

The last sheaf of wheat harvested was traditionally woven into a kind of talisman, to provide a home for the spirit of the field through the winter. Which would be released back to the field in the spring. When the last sheaf is cut, the dolly complete, the Festival begins!

Modern straw artists use the ancient techiques to make blessings for home, family and special occasions.

Celebrate the season, and bless your home with abundance! Or give this weaving as the perfect housewarming gift.

Wheat weavings appear fragile, but last very well. I have the first ones I made almost 30 years ago. They can be dusted with a feather, or for more figorous cleaning, can be swished in light suds, rinsed and dried in it's original shape.

Don't be the only one flying around your kitchen!
