Before these books became part of this set, they were sitting on some lonely dusty book shelf being forgotten about, or in a box for years, decades, or a century, buried deep in the dusty corners of an antique store shelf. I have a passion for 19th century ornate hardcover books, specifically Henry Altemus published books, and EP Roe books. I've given them all a good temporary home (stored in sterlite containers in a climate controlled room, with moisture-absorbing silicone packs) until they go to their future permanent homes.

These book sets have been published in the late 1800s - early 1900s. I am not a book dealer, and I do not grade books on condition, so I'm describing them all as I see them. All of these books have implied wear from being over 100 years old. The listing implies that they show wear and discoloration, darkening, all have brown or browning pages, and are all a little to a lot dusty (come on, they're old!). The pics show more details if you enlarge them. I will not break up the sets, please don't ask. But, I may list an exciting individual rare book once in a while! :)

I attempt to touch these books as little as possible. I'm not going to flip through them to count that every page is there, or inspect every flaw (please don't ask me to). There may or may not be missing pages that can be overlooked. Anything major will be noted below.

I will describe them left to right, bottom to top, as they are seen in the photos. They are all about 4.25-4.5 x 6.25":

Poems Volume II by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow: 1898
Altemus. Writing on inside page, spine is separating.

Barriers Burned Away by EP Roe: 1892
Dodd, Mead, and Co, New York. This book has the most wear of the 3, some pages are separated, scuffed cover.

Dream Life by Donald Mitchell: 1897
Donohue, Henneberry, & Co, Chicago. Some of the cover has been torn off, quite discolored. The illustration and title page still has a tissue sheet attached. Writing throughout book.
