This jumper would have been perfect for Molly or Emily to wear to school. The bodice is lined. The skirt features crisply pressed pleats in both the front. The jumper opens in the back and closes with Velcro. The simple V shaped neckline shows off any pretty white blouse. Currently I only have this jumper available in dusty rose pink.

An article in a magazine for scrapbooking enthusiasts (Memory Makers) described color choices for fashions during WWII: "With rationing of materials and resources the priority of the day, the government war board issued restrictions to the fashion and textile industries concerning the production of clothing and related goods. To further reduce waste, the fashion industry voluntarily issued a limited, standardized set of colors for its mills. These war-supporting efforts resulted in a color palette and fashion aesthetic that changed little over the next five years." The article included color swatches for the palette but also included the color names: victory blue (sort of a light royal blue), army olive, flag red, desert khaki, nuberry (what I would refer to as cranberry/wine), navy blue, homefront rose (as it implies...a rose pink), utility brown, gray flannel, black, white.

Any of the white blouses you already have would work with these skirts but on the chance that you don't already have one please see other listings in my shop for white blouses:

I offer other styles of outfits appropriate for the mid-1940's in the "Historical 1934, 1944" section of my shop:

Please note the following:
1. Although I made this to fit cloth bodied 18” dolls such as those sold by American Girl, Gotz, Our Generation or Springfield Collection I am not affiliated with those companies.
2. My home is pet free and smoke free.
3. The dolls, shoes and socks in the photos are for display purposes only and are not for sale.
4. All seams that would fray have been professionally finished.
