If like me you dream of adventures, this little wall art made from a mix of recycled and new materials will be perfect for you!

The car appliquéd and freehand embroidered is a classic French icon, car of my childhood, a Citorën 2CV. It is fully loaded with suitcases on the roof, ready to cross borders and explore.

The body of the car is made from a green stripy cotton printed in the heart of the Welsh countryside, and appliquéd onto white Irish linen. The suitcases are made from various recycled and new fabric.

The embroidery is done using a basic sewing machine fitted with a freehand embroidery foot. I sketch my drawings, cut the fabric to be appliquéd and 'redraw' my sketch freehand straight onto the fabric using black thread.

This piece is mounted on a 8"(21cm) embroidery hoop (made in Britain).

Ready to hang.

Each hoop is unique due to the nature of freehand machine embroidery, which I think adds to the charm. There will be slight variations from the photos shown.
