Bo Press, 2008
A Map Portfolio
1 7/8" x 1 1/4"

The very names of the cities shine like gold: Samarkand, Isfahan, Kokand. A transcontinental route from east to west has existed for thousands of years, and silk first arrived in Europe in Roman times. A lovely map of the entire route, bordered with Chinese motifs.

Bound in shiny black paper embossed with red dragonflies, a spine of metalic gold paper, and red piping. The interior is lined with cream moire paper, and contains a diagonal black paper band that hold a map (3 1/2" x 7" unfolded) of the medieval route between Constantinople and Khanbalik. A square gold stud on the interior secures a carved black ornament on the exterior of the spine.

Pat Sweet and the Bo Press make miniature illustrated books, maps, portfolios, journals and globes from 1/2" to 3". Subjects range from fans to werewolves to mathematics, but have common themes of curiosity, wonder, mystery, and delight. Member of the Miniature Book Society and IGMA.
