Description

This piece reminds me of driving down the asphalt road in Southern Oklahoma and into the sunset. The summer's here get amazingly hot and the heat waves reflecting off of the asphalt make the sun refract. Then you add to that the barbed wire fences that separate the land and you get this view.

Hazy summer sunset started as an fusion of the yellow 5 by 10 inch piece and the half circle remainder of a green and blue streaky glass. My circle cuts have been coming out lately in one or two pieces and it gives me unique opportunity to use it. The first step was to place the green on the yellow and fire the piece upside down to get the yellow to settle into the green. This is a cool technique that makes the pieces look like one piece of glass. Next, I took out the torch and bend, curled and layered black glass stringers into long curly cues. I laid the black pieces on the yellow and sent the piece back through the kiln. After the second kiln run, I decided to slump it in our curved spoonrest mold.

It finished perfectly. It has some character and is just a really cool piece that let me to refine a couple of techniques.

The piece is about 5 inches wide and about 9 inches long with a 1.5 inch curve.
Colors: Yellow, Black and green and blue streaky glass
Opaque

FAQs

I can do some custom orders depending on the complexity.
I normally don't do gift wrapping but in dire circumstances, I will do it. I am not the best at it
A large majority of my glass is dishwasher safe. However, I do recommend that you handwash these items.
I am a hobbyist at this point but steadily growing my operation. At this point, I do not have the ability or time to produce large quantities of items.
I would not recommend using my products in the microwave. Some of the glass has metal flakes or coatings that could cause sparking.
