This is a set of 2 red buttons. That is double the red. Red. Red.

They are handmade using the traditional Dorset Button craft. Dorset buttons were a way of making buttons before the Industrial Revolution.

They are made using a ring and wrapping and weaving thread round and through the ring. I use embroidery thread (floss).

I love making these and trying out different colour combinations.

These buttons are made using a 100% cotton thread. A gorgeous red.

One button has been made using a plastic ring. It is approximately 1 inch (2.5 cms) in size.
The smaller ring has been made using a brass ring. It is 6/8 ths of an inch (2cms). It has been made using a different stitch.

These buttons can be used simply as buttons on a garment or sewn or stuck as embelishments.

I would recommend hand-washing if used on garments, however in a trial I have washed at 40 degrees and then tumble-dried a similar button 3 times with no effect.
