Lovely to look at and elegantly simple to use, these basic tools hearken back to a time when Pueblo people grew and spun cotton in the desert southwest. Even though indigenous people eventually acquired sheep and adapted to spinning wool fibers, centuries of use showed this wonderful spindle to be versatile enough to spin and ply virtually any fiber, any grist, from lace weight to bulky.

This finely finished spindle is crafted of maple hardwood, It has a 4 ½” diameter whorl and the shaft is 30” long. It weighs 5 oz.
Schacht says: Our traditional Navajo spindle is designed for thigh spinning and has a 4 1/2" diameter whorl and a 30" long shaft.
