Description

The Dame Vanishes I

This is the first of three acts of a queer noir comic set in 1950s San Francisco. Think Bogart and Bacall, black and white film noir, dark fog-laden alleyways and darker intentions...

As a comic fan, I've always wanted to make a comic, but I'm a writer not an artist. I decided not to let that stop me. After drafting a script, no one was banging down my door to do the art, so I did it myself. My wonderfully supportive partner did all the lettering by hand. In fact, the whole comic was done by hand in pen and ink.

Act II is also available on my Etsy page and the final act will be done before the end of 2018.

Specs: 20 pages (including cover), 6.63 x 9.75

Back Cover Blurb -

HOT LEAD! HOT DAMES!

Pine has been in this business long enough to know not to trust it when a woman like that comes knocking on his door offering him a job.

Danger lurks in the dark alleyways and fog bound streets of San Francisco. The neon nightclubs and red-light cabarets are frequented by queer horn players, vanished lounge singers, and dangerous businessmen looking for revenge.

A simple missing person’s case is always more complicated than it first appears. The dame vanished years ago but now she’s back and everyone wants something from her. From Chinatown to the Barbary Coast, from Mona’s 440 Club to Nob Hill, Pine is just one step ahead of the game. One false move and he’ll lose it all.

SAN FRANCISCO IN THE ‘50s IS A COLD DARK PLACE.
SOMETIMES YOU JUST HAVE TO TAKE A CHANCE ON SOMETHING HOT!

Beautiful images and great haiku. Great job with the backgrounds. It is neat to see it in 2 languages even if I don't speak Spanish.

Great photos of great graffiti. I like the use of the color papers behind the images. Very nicely done.
