Put a little cream in your coffee the stylish way with this lovely 1930s Art Deco Salem Streamline Cream Pitcher! Its design--crisp architectural moderne lines in a luxe silvery platinum alloyed with gold--slightly postdates the more familiar Salem Tricorne Mandarin Orange design.

This Creamer was designed by Herbert Smith & Vincent Broomhall (patented in 1935), and features 3 slim streamlines in silvery Warranted Platinum Gold. It would go well with several of the Salem Platinum patterns in our collection, see our Atomic Salem China section:

Maker’s mark reads “US PATENT D. 96445 STREAMLINE By SALEM,” with “S/4048” in handwritten script.

:: Condition & Size ::

Measurements: Creamer is 6 inches from spout to handle [15.5cm] and 2.25 inches high [5.75cm].

Condition is Excellent – light overall crazing as expected for this age; otherwise, no cracks, chips or repairs.

:: Care & Handling ::

As with any china with metallic embellishments, this piece should not be used in microwaves, and we strongly recommend hand washing. Where there is surface crazing, avoid staining by restricting contact with acidic or deeply colored liquids & foods (strong coffee, beets, etc).

PLEASE NOTE: Vintage and antique dishes were often decorated with glazes containing varying amounts of lead, a toxic chemical. If you have a concern, please research before purchasing. To minimize exposure to lead when using vintage dinnerware, please observe the following precautions: use infrequently; do not expose to high heat, including microwaves, ovens, and dishwashers; avoid contact with acidic foods & liquids, especially if cracked or crazed (slight crackling of the clear overglaze); do not use to store food or liquids; hand wash with a gentle detergent soon after use and allow to air dry.
