Description

This yarn stripes through 32 different hand-dyed colors that do not repeat. I spun it so that it will stripe through the rainbow (sort of) - it starts off with pinks and then stripes through reds, oranges, yellows, greens, blues, and purples. The start and end colors coordinate so the colors flow nicely together if knit in a loop. I dye the fiber in large batches, and all the skeins currently available are from the same dye lot.

This colorway is similar to my original Yarnbow striping yarn, but with more brights and jewel tones and no neutrals.

The wool I used in this dyelot is super soft organic polwarth wool from the falkland islands. No herbicides, pesticides, dips, footbaths or regular injections are used on their sheep, and no bleach or other chemicals in the processing of the wool. It is softer than my usual merino x wool, and the yarn is hardwearing (thanks to the long staple of the polwarth wool), slightly drapey, and has a slight sheen to it. It reminds me a bit of a cross between a bouncy fine wool like merino and a soft longwool like blue faced leicester.

This yarn is about a bulky to super bulky weight, so I'd recommend around US 13+ knitting needles. This skein is plenty of yarn for a big hat, cowl, scarf, a pair or two of fingerless gloves, smallish legwarmers, or ??
