This is a little English language pattern for a knitted egg cosy.
The pattern is supplied as an instantly downloadable digital PDF file, so you will need a PDF reader such as Adobe Reader to open, print and save the file. Once paid for it will available to download and is also always accessible from your Etsy purchase history. A receipt will be emailed to your Etsy contact email (please ensure that this is up to date).
I knit it in cotton simply so that it can be easily washed and use 4ply/fingering weight/5ply. It's quite good for using up small amounts of yarn that you might not have another use for. It is knitted flat on straight needles and seamed.
This pattern is suitable for intermediate knitting skills.
Finished size: approx 12cm (5 inches) from base to ear tip and it will fit over a large egg (organic of course) or a chocolate one if you prefer.

Although a bit fiddly, to use Julie’s expression, these egg cozies turn out very cute. I’m making one for my 94 year old aunt who eats soft boiled eggs most mornings. I made one with a navy and yellow dress, which seemed a bit masculine, so I’m doing a second one in orchid and mint green. I’m rubbish at embroidering but Julie’s instructions and accompanying photos made it easy to do the face. It took time and patience to assemble everything but it was worth it!

Having not knitted for many years I was worried I would find the pattern complicated for such a small item. Well I was pleasantly surprised, the instructions were very clear and when there was an unusual stitch it gave you tips on how to do them and also a link to YouTube which I found extremely helpful. I managed to knit my first bunny cosy in two evenings and I am very happy with the results. Can't wait to do more knitting!
