Description

Sometimes the glass works with me in unique ways. First, the base piece of glass is actually two separate pieces of glass fused together. The streaky glass on the edges was the left over from a circle cut and it remained almost intact. I didn't want to separate the corners so I took the pine green and white glass as a new center. Basically, I laid the streaky glass over the white glass and fused the entire thing upside down. This forced the white glass into the circular void. After the first kiln run, I had some drawings from my sketch book that I wanted to try out. I started with the cobalt blue center and shaped it into a funnel. I then added the yellow and the green on the sides to bring additional color to the piece. After the second kiln run, it looked like a rain wrapped Blue tornado.

This is a special piece for me. The weather in Oklahoma is chaotic and we are known for tornadoes. They are powerful, beautiful in their own way, and destructive. You have to respect their threat but not live in fear of them. I tried to replicate the emotion of the tornado. The streaky glass edges are like the sky during the storm. Turbulent with deep blues, greens and blacks. The white represents the area in front of the storm front. Calm, sunny and not knowing what is about to come. The pine green is a wall cloud descending on the prairie full of anger and danger. The yellow and green are different versions of the rain. Some in the sun and some in the shadow. Finally the Blue Tornado is the finger from Heaven touching the Earth.

The piece is 10 inches by 10 inches
Opaque with some Translucent areas
Blue, Yellow, Green, White and multicolored streaky.

FAQs

I can do some custom orders depending on the complexity.
I normally don't do gift wrapping but in dire circumstances, I will do it. I am not the best at it
A large majority of my glass is dishwasher safe. However, I do recommend that you handwash these items.
I am a hobbyist at this point but steadily growing my operation. At this point, I do not have the ability or time to produce large quantities of items.
I would not recommend using my products in the microwave. Some of the glass has metal flakes or coatings that could cause sparking.
