Make your own succulent Mozzarella and creamy Ricotta with an Urban Cheesecraft Kit!

Please peruse my feedback from happy customers and watch the Etsy film made about the beginnings of my shop (I bottle-feed a baby goat! :)

Your Mozzarella and Ricotta D.I.Y. Cheese Kit includes these carefully selected and tested supplies:

Instruction/Recipe Handbook and Unlimited Email Support
Fine Mesh , 100% Cotton Cheesecloth also known as Butter Muslin
Glass Dairy Thermometer (alcohol not mercury)
Gluten-free, Non-GMO Vegetarian Rennet Tablets
Gluten-Free, Non-GMO Citric Acid
Pure, Non-Iodized Flake Salt

The ingredients allow you to make at least 10 batches of cheese. You can, of course, re-use the recipes, thermometer and cloth and find larger refills of rennet tablets, salt and citric acid in my shop when you run out (and are hooked ;).

Simply add a gallon of cows' milk and in one hour, you will be eating and sharing homemade, all-natural mozzarella or ricotta!

A batch is about 1 1/2-2 lb. depending on whole or low-fat milk, or mozz vs. ricotta, so you'll have plenty of supplies to experiment with different herbs, shapes and recipes.

A little about me:

I take your success in making cheese very seriously. I test and fine-tune recipes and each kit repeatedly for 1-2 years before I launch anything (I ask family and friends to help test too :). I teach several classes monthly and get to see lots of students learn and arrive at cheese in all sorts of ways- so I am well-prepared for most questions and can troubleshoot with you any time you need.

I opened my shop on Etsy in January 2009 and I'm always improving and simplifying for your success! I was lucky enough to get a short film made about my business by Etsy, check it out!

A little about milk:

You do not need raw milk to make cheese although it works great with these kits. You can use regular pasteurized milk from the grocery store as long as it is not ultra-pasteurized or ultra-heat pasteurized. Even some of the large organic brands now do this to milk. Its only benefit is a long shelf life. Find a milk that you like and works, then stick with it. Oh and, this kit works with goats' milk too. You can also use low fat milk or nonfat milk (yield and creaminess will be noticeably different with both). Raw milk from a local farm is great ( to find some near you) and a recent addition I saw at Whole Foods is grass-fed, organic, pasteurized but non-homogenized milk (means the cream settles at the top like the old days!). If you can find it, try it! It's great for making mozzarella and the next best thing to raw!

I know this is a lot of info. but I get a lot of questions! ;) Got more?
