This beautiful jug has a timeless feel to it (like all well designed objects), though in fact it was made by the Lovatt Langley Mill pottery - most likely (according to its backstamp) in the very early 20th century (the company eliminated lead from its glazes after 1905).

It's a jug with one quart capacity, and from the notches in its neck you can see that it originally had as lid - probably one made of pewter.

Lovatt Langley's mid-century connection is that in the 1950s it merged with its Derbyshire neighbour - Denby pottery.

The jug is in very good condition for its age - though there has been wear through use of the gold detailing on its neck. It measures approx 19 cm high, and weighs 1085 g.
