First edition of Isles of the South Pacific by Maurice Shadbolt and Olaf Ruhen (1968) - a National Geographic Special book. This book is in good to very good condition. No dust jacket. Very slight rub marks on the edge of the cover. Photos of the South Pacific isles are excellent as you would expect from National Geographic.

The map of the Pacific is included and is in excellent condition.

"Cloth binding on this book reproduces in about half-size a design of Tonga tapa, feltlike material made from the inner bark of the paper mulberry tree and used for clothing and bedding. Stylized leis of leaves and seeds form this pattern." from the first page of the book. A beautiful and unique cover!
