This heirloom piece is a model of the stage korenmolen ( corn mill ) rebuilt in 1908 in 's-Gravenzande Netherlands. After looking at hundreds of windmills, I chose this one for its pure elegance and classic windmill design. The model stands 58" high and the sails span 44". It is finished in a satin polish with details ( doors, windows, trim, etc ) in buffed copper. The sails rotate, the head moves 360 degrees so the sails can face the wind, the doors operate and the capstan spins. The piece was entered in the Utah State Fair ( 2010 ) and won a "Best of Show" award in amateur creative arts. It took two months ( 14 hr. days, 6-7 days/week ) to build.
