This gray and white plastic transistor AM radio, model AR-853, was manufactured by the Aiwa Company Ltd. of Tokyo in 1964. It comes in a black leather case with a belt-like carry strap.

Measures 6 1/2" (16.5 cm) across by 4" (10.2 cm) high by 2 3/4" (7 cm) deep and holds 4 AA batteries.

New batteries were placed inside and the radio turned on with loud static, but did not broadcast any stations and may just need a little fine-tuning.
