Hey Sailor! Sturdy vintage Atomic Art Deco Dinnerware for your yacht: Margaret Blumenthal's 1930s 'Sailing Ships' design on Salem China's Tricorne & Streamline shapes feature a creamy white ceramic china with tight rings of reddish orange & platinum, and pairs of highly stylized sailboats in red, black & gray, floating on some jaunty waves under the stars - very Art Moderne.

We have 2-12 piece sets consisting of the following pieces:

* 4 Plates = 9 inches [23cm] from corner to corner
* 4 Cups (Coffee or Tea) = 3.75 inches [9.5 cm] in diameter by 2.25 inches [6.35cm] high
* 4 Saucers = 6 inches [15.25cm] from corner to corner

Please Note: we actively collect this pattern and always have other pieces available not yet posted here in our Etsy shop (at time of listing we have Platters, extremely rare Bread plates, Berry & Nut Bowls, Coffeepot with a matching Creamer & lidded Sugar Bowl Set) so please inquire or check our Atomic Salem Dinnerware section for current listings:

Overall, in great vintage condition, with the expected crazing, a few light stains here & there, plus misc fleabites. One saucer has a tiny chip underneath its rim. Otherwise, no cracks, heavy wear, or repairs.

Maker's mark is stamped in platinum on bottom of most pieces; cups are unmarked.

:: Care & Handling ::

As with any china this fragile, and with metallic embellishment, this set should not be used in microwaves, and we strongly recommend hand washing. Where there is surface crazing, avoid staining by restricting contact with acidic or deeply colored liquids & foods (strong coffee, beets, etc). Although it is tempting to stack the cups one on top of another, please don’t – it will quickly wear down the glaze on the handles.

PLEASE NOTE: Vintage and antique dinnerware were often decorated with glazes containing varying degrees of toxic substances like lead or cadmium. If you have a concern, please research before purchasing. To minimize exposure to these substances when using vintage dinnerware, please observe the following precautions: use infrequently; do not expose to high heat, including microwaves, ovens, and dishwashers; avoid contact with acidic foods & liquids, especially if cracked or crazed (slight crackling of the clear overglaze); do not use to store food or liquids; wash by hand soon after use and allow to air dry.

:: Salem Streamline • Salem Tricorne ::

In the 1930s, the Salem (Ohio) China Company produced a series of futuristic, atomic dinnerware shapes (designed by Don Schreckengost, Herbert Smith & Vincent Broomhall, with Viktor Schreckengost rumored to have contributed) known as Tricorne and Streamline. They exploded into the well-ordered design world with their Jetson-like conical shapes, sharply angular handles, and curvy triangular plates.

These sailing ships are a sophisticated departure from the solids like Mandarin orange, banana yellow, grass green, & Egyptian blue; Streamlines of platinum, orange, aqua, or gold; and decal images like petit point figures, floral motifs, polo players atop their horses, card suit symbols…the variety is seemingly endless!

It’s our intention to provide the most comprehensive collection of this unique 1930s dinnerware available online, so for more fantastic Streamline and Tricorne dishes, see our Atomic Salem Dinnerware section:
