Description

I had a custom order request for the man's valet I make (see separate listing). The buyer really liked the intersecting cube pattern in one of my cutting boards and wanted to know if I could make the lid to the valet in the same pattern. The intersecting cube pattern is more difficult than my standard lid pattern, but I was able to do it for the valet, and the buyer was very pleased with the results. I liked the looks of it so much I decided to make several and have them available for everyone.

This is the same man's valet as my other listing but with the intersecting cube pattern in the lid. Also, I decided walnut trim looked better on the lid than the oak I use on the standard valet. Still a great gift for any man. Guys can be difficult to buy for, but this is a useful item, and it looks beautiful! No more ties for Dad.

I made a similar valet for my son when he was in college over 20 years ago, and he still uses it daily. A nice place to drop your keys, your wallet and your loose change. The front of the change bin is sloped to make it easy to rake the coins out in the morning.

The base is walnut. I can usually find pieces with some of the light grain for the front curved piece, but each box will have differences in grain pattern. The lid is walnut, cherry, and hard maple. Poplar, a very stable wood, is used on the inside of the lid and on the bottom. The box is coated with a mixture of beeswax and mineral oil, then polished to a smooth finish.

(My apologies for some of the pictures being upside down. I never could figure out how to get them rotated properly. I do woodwork much better than pictures.)

    Repeat customer.

Lloyd's work continues to impress me.

His attention to detail is second to none.

The box I ordered is beautiful and gets noticed sitting on the foyer table.

Lloyd is always a pleasure to work with.

Great communication and he genuinely loves hearing from his repeat customers.

    Thank you, Lloyd.

I asked about custom dimensions, which Lloyd did for the same price as any other box. The box is absolutely beautiful. It shows such pride in craftsmanship -- and Lloyd is an artist who really knows how to show off the natural beauty of wood. He was extremely pleasant to work with, and very quick with my order so it arrived in plenty of time for my husband's birthday. Highly recommend! You will not regret getting one of his beautiful creations!
