Here is a wonderful Gold Medal wood recipe box loaded with baking recipes from the 1920s and 1930s. This is a one of a kind!

This box came from an estate where the owner had her own in-home baking business. Please note that the recipes are industrial or commercial measurements.

Box is packed full of very attractive recipe cards supplied by General Mills, Kre-Mit Creams, and Gold Medal Bakers Service. Wonderful typography on these cards!

Cards are divided into these categories: Rye, Whole Wheat, Rolls, Fried Cakes, Cakes, Icings, Breads, Cakes, and Cookies. Again, these are commercial or industrial recipes, so Ginger Bread Cake calls for 2 pounds of granulated sugar, 1 lb. eggs, 5 lbs. molasses, 6 lbs. flour, etc.

There are some wonderful old-timey recipes in here. Most are preprinted, but some are handwritten in pencil. A few cards have stains. Representative recipes include Malted Milk Icing, French Coffee Cake, Prince of Wales Cake, Harlequin Cake, Southern Chocolate Nut Cake, Marquis Fudge Icing, Wheatie Macaroons, Log Cabin Cookies or Rough and Readys, Old Virginian Goober Cake, Dixie Land Favorite Cookies (handwritten), Flavo Loaf Cake, Spanish Bun, Pyramid Cakes, Raisin Bread, Russian Choc Pecan Wafers (handwritten), Orange Cream Filling, Pullman Health Bread (handwritten), Pumpkin Cream Pie, Chocolate Fried Cakes, Lemon Cookies, and much more. The majority of recipes are cake-related. Also includes cards with baking and marketing tips.

Box, which has wonderful typography, is 5.5 inches high, is stained, and a bit rickety at hinges.

Please note that my shipping cost is calculated from the worst-case scenario, Chicago-California. If shipping cost is significantly less than that listed, I will give you a partial shipping refund. (I'm also happy to combine shipping costs--convo me for a quote or know that I'll refund a portion of the shipping you pay. Because I have a variety of items with different sizes and weights, it's hard to calculate that in my listing.)
