What an amazing ring this is! No sooner have you decided what it is (say, a flower) that it makes you think about something else! One wonders what exactly the craftsman had in mind when he fashioned this beautiful ring...
Whatever it reminds you of, you can be sure that the highest quality material was used to craft this fine piece of 18K solid gold jewelry.
The face of the ring resembles a flower. It is not really geometrical à la Déco since it is designed with curves and soft lines. It also features three little round beads on the shank. They seem to replicate the "petal" number. The interesting shank starts with the face of the ring as five gold threads, then develops into a regular solid gold mass. This means that the ring can be sized.
The ring weighs a hefty 7.1 grams and has a comfortable feel on the finger. It is in excellent vintage condition. Any white or cloudy spots on the item is glare and/or photographic obstructions.
Size: 8 1/4
size of the decor of the ring 14 x 14mm
width: 14 widest, and 3.5mm narrowest
Weight: 7.1g
Material: 18K solid gold, ~18 Swiss cut diamonds
Period: 1350s, Retro, Mid century
Style: modernist, boho, abstract
Provenance: an estate sale
Condition: excellent estate, minor wear

*Information on gold jewelry:
- 24K gold is pure gold. (it is not really used in jewellery because it is too soft and not practical for daily wear.)
-18K gold contains 18 parts gold and 6 parts of one or more additional metals, making it 75% gold. This level of fineness is used extensively in French and Italian jewelry and in most quality pieces)
-14K gold contains 14 parts gold and 10 parts of one or more additional metals, making it 58.3% gold. (It is used extensively in the US)
-12K gold contains 12 parts gold and 12 parts of one or more additional metals, making it 50% gold.
-10K gold contains 10 parts gold and 14 parts of one or more additional metals, making it 41.7% gold. 10K gold is the minimum standard that can be called "gold" in the United States.
Antique jewelry and rare items often contain the lower level of fineness, but their value is based on a myriad of other factors.
