Description

The amazing paint job on this shield is an original painting done with Acrylics by Artist Indi Martin. Signed by Indi Martin on the back.

Want one of these done by Indi Martin with your OWN Concept art? We can do that! Whether it's Heraldry, Coat of Arms, Game Group Symbol, Character, Guild or Business Logo, or any other original concept piece you may want done, we will work with Indi to realize your project. Just contact us so we can talk to you about your needs and get the project quoted for you.

While this one has been done to be hung as an amazing piece of original art in the home, for an upcharge we can also add a handle/strap to the back of the shield (prior to be being painted by Indi), allowing you to carry it around as a Cosplay piece (Don’t scratch the paint!). Cost of the shield/artwork will be highly driven by the detail desired. Wood soaks up a lot of paint requiring both more paint and time to paint on this medium vs. many other traditional mediums.

The shields themselves are made by Jivalax Azon Crafting. These are extremely durable being made from two pieces of LuAnn adhered together. The glue is so strong the wood will pull apart before glue seam breaks! This method is similar to how some traditional wood shields were made for combat, but thanks to the modern chemistry we now have stronger adhesives.

As well as being extremely durable they are light! At approximately 35 ounces (just under 2lb), they will not take a lot to either hang on your wall or carry around either as part of your costume.

Don't be fooled by other shapes and sizes! This shield blank is made very much too traditional shape and sizing! When making such a shield it was typical for the top to measure from should to shoulder of the user and then held that way, the top of the shield goes down to the sternum. Our shields are made using this method using the maker's measurements.

The top measures approximately 20 1/4" wide. From Shield tip to the top is approximately 23 1/4". Width is LESS than a 1/4, which is why this blank is so light but without losing durability to the process used to make them. These blanks are slightly curved as well, to be the proper shape.

Once the painting has been completed, clear coats of varnish are applied.

*Paper in photo is for scale, and is a standard sheet of 8 1/2" x 11 paper.

*International shipping can possibly be accommodated (be warned, it will likely be costly). Just send us an inquiry.

*Being a handmade product size may vary slightly from shield to shield.
