Description

This is a Large “Flickering Lone Star” quilt block with a oak background. It is made using diamonds and triangles from different kinds of wood, all in their natural colors. There are 588 pieces on this block, 240 diamonds and 336 triangles, all full size. It has 12 other pieces on the corners. It measures 18 ½” square and is 5/8” thick. To finish them, I use 5 or 6 coats of a clear wiping varnish, rubbed in by hand.

The alternating black and white rows give the star the illusion of movement like its “Flickering”.

It has a hanger on the back for hanging it on the wall.

The type of wood is listed on the back from the center out. On this quilt block the wood is “Wenge” from West Africa, “Ash” and “Oak” from Missouri.

I made this quilt block in 1987. On the back I signed it, listed the wood, and dated it.

Go to my ”Shop Polices” and “Profile” page to see my return policy and other information on how I make these. To see other cabinets I’ve made, click on “Large Boxes” or whatever gets your interest under “Sections in this shop”. The “Home” page itself can be rather confusing with everything mixed up. The “Sections in this shop” lets me show you all like items together as a unit.

Payment can be made using Pay Pal for immediate shipment, money order or check. Checks will have to clear before shipment is made.

Why are some of these things so old?

I did shows for 16 years, then had to stay closer to home as both my and my wife’s folks were living with us and needed more care. I made a lot of my things at shows and would finish them up at home. This way I built up quite an inventory of goods I would pack away in boxes. These are not like cars that wear out with age. They just set in a box and stay new. If when you get it, it is not what you want I have a very good return policy above.
