A colorful reprint of an old African map from the 1500's. This beautiful map is paired with a sangria butterfly, Cymothoe sangaris, one of the only all red butterflies in the world.

WHY UV BLOCKING GLASS IS IMPORTANT:
UV rays that come from all types of light degrade colors and specimens. In order to preserve the beautiful colors and the specimen, it is important to have a frame with UV blocking glass.

Frequently asked questions about BugUnderGlass

Like all fine artwork, avoid direct sunlight and extreme humidity.
Yes, please contact me with your idea and I can give you a quote.
My insects come from sustainable conservation farms/ranches around the world. I do not sell rare, endangered or insects recognized as unsustainable (Dragonflies, Bats, rare beetles).
By linking environmental stewardship and economic development, butterfly farming positively impacts threatened habitats as well as human well-being. Currently used by conservation organizations, such as the Nature Conservancy and WWF, Butterfly farming helps save rainforest habitat by providing villagers an alternative income to agricultural farming and logging, which clears tropical forest. for more info Google "butterfly farming"
Since these displays are professionally made using UV blocking glass (so colors won't fade) and archival mounting boards - they can potentially last forever if treated with care. Most sellers are hobbyiest and DO NOT use UV glass or use proper materials - -and they will not last.
