Materials

wood, purple heart, wenge, walnut

This is a Large “Glittering Star, Purple Nebula” quilt block with a walnut background. It is made using diamonds and triangles from different kinds of wood, all in their natural colors. There are 588 pieces on this block, 240 diamonds and 336 triangles, all full size. It has 12 other pieces on the corners. It measures 18 ½” square and is 5/8” thick. To finish them, I use 5 or 6 coats of a clear wiping varnish, rubbed in by hand.

The alternating black and purple rows give the star brilliance not normally associated with wood. This does NOT give the illusion of movement like its “Flickering”, like the black and white stars do.

It has a hanger on the back for hanging it on the wall.

The type of wood is listed on the back from the center out. On this quilt block the wood is “Purpleheart” from Central or South America, “Wenge” from West Africa, and “Walnut” from Missouri.

I made this quilt block in 1987. On the back I signed it, listed the wood, and dated it.

Go to my ”Shop Polices” and “Profile” page to see my return policy and other information on how I make these. To see other quilt blocks I’ve made, click on “Quilt Blocks over 25.00” or whatever gets your interest under “Sections in this shop”. The “Home” page itself can be rather confusing with everything mixed up. The “Sections in this shop” lets me show you all like items together as a unit.

Payment can be made using Pay Pal for immediate shipment, money order or check. Checks will have to clear before shipment is made.
