This vintage sterling silver pie server or cake server was made by Hamilton & Diesinger of Philadelphia c. 1880.

Hamilton & DIesinger were established in Philadelphia, PA and eventually became Hamilton & Davis. This lovely pie server is of a known, but un-named pattern. A vine and scroll pattern decorate the handle all the way to the serving blade. The shoulders of the piece are decorated with a wonderful ribbed pattern centered on a flower. The reverse is also charmingly decorated.

It is in excellent condition with a beautiful patina. Please note, patina is not to be confused with tarnish :) The piece is entirely sterling, not a stainless steel blade set into a sterling handle! It is just under 10 inches (25cm) from nose to tail. To provide you with some perspective, in one photo is the back of my standard-sized business card 3.5 x 2 inches (8.9 x 5 cm).
