Musical Abstraction... painting the way it feels to 'play' the instruments. As an artist and musician, I attempt to capture the essence and energy of the instrument I'm trying to depict, and transfer that feeling of musicality to the canvas. I have been creating musical abstraction since 2003.

Those two red triangles... are his sunglasses... eyes peering out, look closely! A small nose and a crocked smile... read on.

A Tribute to Ray:

Painted six months before his death, "A Tribute to Ray" places perspective into the hard edged, multi blued soulful space that I feel when listening to his music. The keyboard floats out and above the depths of those "blues" and gives stark contrast to his red triangular sunglasses... eyes peering out... a small angular nose with the crooked smile I used to see... whenever he performed his magic.

This "fine art" geometric original artwork represents a mix of blues and jazz into a contemporary acrylic painting with overtones of abstract expressionism. This piece took several years to complete, as the evolution was slow to emerge and I could only work on this piece when listening to the music of Ray. Six months after I finished this work, the master passed away.

For added protection, the artwork has three coats of varnish to seal the surface but this original acrylic painting should NOT be hung in direct sunlight as fading will occur over time. Minimal sunlight exposure is totally acceptable.

This original is 24x30 on canvas and framed in Nielsen 117 Iridescent Blue. Finished size is approx. 26x32.

All materials used in the framing process are archival products commonly used in conservation framing. All hanging materials necessary to mount on most wall surfaces are included.

This item will ship to you via FedEx at no charge. A custom crate/shipping container will be built for this item at no extra charge.
