The Vulture Goddess, Nekhbet was a personal protector of the pharaoh and she who bestowed the white crown to the pharaoh, she became the symbol of rulership in ancient Egypt. She looked after mothers and children through out the whole land. Nekhbet is often shown with her wings outstretched in protection, hovering over the Pharaoh and holding in her claws the hieroglyphic symbol the "Shem", which means "to encircle" and "infinite".
