What a wonderful gift this would make to give….or to keep for yourself! This black and white vase was hand-built by folding a very thinly rolled slab of clay. For the longest time, I could not decide what color the piece needed to be until it dawned on me that the intricate shape demanded a study in black and white. I took much time painting polka dots, squares, plaids, leopard stripes, zebra stripes, and zig-zag designs, all formulated to enhance the folds of the piece. Now I can’t decide which view is best! The vase can be used to hold flowers, or it can be an art piece all by itself. The vase is stoneware and can hold liquids. It is 5 ½ inches tall and measures about 7 inches wide and 10 inches long.

This vase has also recently won first place in the Pottery Division of the Tomball Art League Fall 2011 Art Show, which qualified it for competition at the next level, the Spring 2012 Lone Start Art Guild Juried Art Show, where it won third place.
