This vintage souvenir ring with its original enamel features an eagle warrior, or cuāuhme. These warriors were a special class of infantry soldiers in the Aztec army. They were the bravest soldiers of noble birth and those who had taken the greatest number of prisoners in battle. This ring features beautiful colors in its almost entirely intact enamel along with rampant lion side shields.

Vintage souvenir rings, otherwise known as “Mexican Biker Rings,” date back to the 1930s. They were sold to traveling tourists and through novelty catalogs such as the Johnson Smith novelty catalogs in the late 40s and 50s. Rings like this were worn by American GIs returning back from the war, rebellious teenagers, fraternal organizations and lodges, motorcycle club members and really anyone who wanted a piece of the outlaw culture.
