These cheery fish pockets are leftovers of yet another unfinished project of mine. I purchased them years ago in Hong Kong and intended to attach them to a couple of smocks as decorative pockets. They have attached hangers, so I think the real purpose was to be a hanging wall pocket or catch-all for a child’s desk or wardrobe. The condition of both pockets is as new.

The cotton fabric appears to have been air brushed or hand dyed as all the colors show a gradation of hues instead of being a solid color. Tiny blanket stitches tie all the different colored cotton waves and fish parts together, giving these pockets a retro look, like something out of the Forties or Fifties. White cotton backing and pocket liner add stability to the design.

How about these pockets as a design inspiration added to a quilt, wall hanging or pillow cover?

Thanks for looking. Please email me if you have any questions!
