This is one in a series of small sculptures, also known as wearable crowns, that I made for a solo Show which was awarded to me by Judy Chicago. This crown is an assemblage using found and fabricated objects including vintage chandelier parts, tiny brass bells, and Swarovski crystals. I cut the individual temples out of copper after etching them and they have archival quality images inside. The tiny brass bells make a wonderful tinkling sound when the crown is worn.It measures around 5 1/2" at the highest part of the front and about 7" in diameter which gives it a circumference in the 22-23" range--the size of an average female head. It is not adjustable. I am a trained silversmith and have put this crown together with rivets, durable enough to become a family heirloom for generations to come. It has been clear-coated to protect the patinas, both those of age and those I have created. I accept commissions for these crowns, they range in the $750-$3,000 bracket and generally take a month or more to complete.
