Handmade item

Materials

sterling silver, lamp work glass, Charoite

This handmade heirloom Rosary features rare top grade Charoite, a semiprecious gemstone discovered in 1957 in Eastern Siberia and is found in no other location. The purple color is natural and unenhanced, and the stone is filled with fans and swirls of tonal color. The stone is also chatoyant, meaning it changes in appearance as the bead is turned. It’s related to Seraphinite, a green stone with similarities, but softer and more prevalent. I came upon these stones in 2008 and have not found similar quality since.

The Two Angel Crucifix, Jesus in Agony / Guadalupe center, and Mary at the feet of St Anne medal have been cast from the antique originals, then burnished to the original patina by a skilled US artisan.

Likewise, the Lamp Glass Our Fathers are artisan made here in the US over an open flame, using strong borosilicate glass and annealed for durability and scratch resistance.

This is a cable Rosary, strung on strong, 49-strand, 40# test wt plastic coated stainless Steel. It is carefully double crimped for durability.

The Hail Marys are 8mm, a little bigger than the commercial Rosaries. It is especially nice for those with arthritic hands or for men's larger hands, but is not too big or heavy. My hands are small, but I find I prefer the 8mm size for my personal Rosaries.

It has a nice 'feel' in the hand, and the cable makes it flexible.

Length 22”.

Instructions are included on sturdy, plastic-covered stock.

As always, this Rosary comes boxed in silver and in a delightful beaded organza gift bag--ready for presentation.
