Zeiss Ikon Baby Box 54/18 Tengor Camera
Vintage from the 1930s
Materials: leatherette, metal
Known as a “pocket camera”, this adorable little Zeiss Ikon Baby Box Tengor camera would look phenomenal as a decor piece, and give all your friends something to envy when they come over! Keep this cute little camera with your vintage camera collection or as a fun decorative piece on a shelf, mantel or your desk at work. This camera uses 127 roll film, which can easily be purchased at online camera retailers.
The Baby Box Tengor is a roll film camera with 3 x 4 cm negative surface and was built 1930 to 1937 in Dresden in various versions. This first version was introduced in 1930, a metal box camera, taking 127 film (A8) rolls, with small sports finder and single-speed shutter. It has a Frontar 50mm f/11 lens and a single speed shutter. A standard remote shutter release cable can be attached for timed exposures.
FUN FACT: In 1934 this f/11 version of the camera received a redesign adding a hexagonal plate around the lens.
This camera shows an average amount of wear for its age. There are some areas where the leatherette is pealing and the finish is rusting a bit. The metal pop-up frame appears to have lost it’s original shape, but still functions fine. It can be easily reshaped with some pliers. The shutter and winder seem to be operating smoothly, but has not been tested with film.
Dimensions: 3.25” x 2.5” x 2.25” inches (approx.)

This little camera is amazing! Mom had a vintage Ansco box camera and my small collection began with hers. Seller packaged with camera in its pristine leather case along with its flash outfit as well as original booklet, all bubble wrapped within its leatherette original sales case which was, too, packaged in bubble wrap and in exactly the right sized shipping box so it could not move! The camera itself is unique as described and as I researched a rare find and is of a great material and color! It is unique and a great addition to my collection! I am thrilled to have it now!
I was disappointed after receiving this item b/c there were some dust smears visible through the viewfinder. This is the camera I used to learn photography. It was Nikon's beginner's SLR sold '82-'86. I tested this with 6 different film types noting the camera functioned well and smudging did not impact the images. my old one went out. I used it pretty heavy 2 years. Sparingly after. Stopped taking a battery charge. This is not the Nikon that lasts a lifetime and does not approach the quality of intermediate Nikons at the time and was priced about $150 in '84. Good: it is very light & compact. Has programmed, AP & manual modes. I bought this to replace an old gift. Bad: It is full of plastic parts and potential problems that won't be worth fixing. It's a learner and is good for that but don't expect years of continual use.
Item arrived within a very good time, less then a week! Item matched the description perfectly, was packaged very well and even a handwritten thank you on the reciept of purchase which i thought was thoughtful and kind to take the time to do so, if in the future this place is selling something of the same manor and in the same price range and quality i was looking, I would defenitely choose them first! Absolutely 100% satisfied customer!!and i dont about others but speaking for someone who has ordered MANY items online and have dealt with plenty of HORRIBLE stores and just lies and recieving thi gs that in NOWAY shape or form was qhat was pictured and described, it was soooo nice getting exactly what i expected and deserved and in an amazing time and care..again just 100% satisfied, thank you again!!
Had an issue when I received this camera. I promptly contacted Jeff and we made plans to exchange. He honors his exchange policy and I am so happy for it. I have since sent over 100 shots through the camera and it has worked flawlessly. Very happy, thank you
