Cabinets of curiosities (also known as Wunderkammer, Cabinets of Wonder, or wonder-rooms) were encyclopedic collections of types of objects whose categorical boundaries were, in Renaissance Europe, yet to be defined. Modern terminology would categorize the objects included as belonging to natural history (sometimes faked), geology, ethnography, archaeology, religious or historical relics, works of art (including cabinet paintings) and antiquities. The Kunstkammer was regarded as a microcosm or theater of the world, and a memory theater. The Kunstkammer conveyed symbolically the patron's control of the world through its indoor, microscopic reproduction.
The last picture of this listing is an example of a Wonder Cabinet.
About the necklace:
The necklace is made with the 'skeleton' of a leaf, which gives a very interesting structure to the resin. To give the necklace the real old (Natural History) feeling we used a vintage frame to capture the resined leaf and accompanied with a vintage brass leaf it sure gives a wonderful Natural and Historical feeling.
Most of the pieces of this collection will be One Of A kind due to the natural and vintage findings!
The necklace is 16'' (40.5cm) with an extension of 4'' (10cm).
All metal is nickle and lead free.
