Description

Beautiful vintage Japanese cotton /hemp boro kimono fabric piece. The pattern is woven and dyed, an ikat weaving. Indigo blue and light blue. Crispish texture. It may be hemp but as hemp and cotton burn in identical ways, I cannot say for sure. Still has some stitching holes along the sides. Vintage good condition some signs of wear and stitching
.
Rectangular. It measures 34 cm across and is 65cm long.

Boro thus came to predominately signify clothing worn by the peasant farming classes, who mended their garments with spare fabric scraps out of economic necessity. In many cases, the usage of such a boro garment would be handed down over generations, eventually resembling a patchwork after decades of mending. The use of indigo dyes (Japanese: Aizome) was common Boro also exemplifies the Japanese Aesthetic of Wabi-Sabi, in that the fabric reflects the beauty of natural wear and use. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boro_(textile)

All fabrics are burn tested to determine content.

Regarding the colour, please understand that it may look different according to your monitor or other circumstances. If you are unsure please ask questions before buying!
