Description

Allergic to coconut oil, have blemish prone skin, or perhaps just want a facial moisturizer a bit lighter than a cream?

Ideal as a chest and back moisturizer for those annoyed with chest or back acne.

Sensitive Skin Care Lotion is made without the use of coconut oil. Being of a looser consistency than our creams, this facial moisturizer is offered in a pop-up cap bottle rather than a lidded jar.

Sensitive Skin Care Lotion consists of either a blend of nourishing hazelnut, almond and grapeseed oils or apricot, sunflower and grapeseed oils.
Hazelnut and almond oils are high in antioxidants and essential fatty acids, encourage cell renewal and healing, all of which are a plus for improving irritated skin.
Extracted using cold pressed extraction rather than chemical solvents, these protein rich oils are good for moisturizing and balancing all skin types.
Hazelnut oil has astringent benefits and absorbs quickly without an oily residue.
Slightly astringent as well and ideal for oily skin, grapeseed oil is high in anti-oxidants and absorbs easily. Its gentle, nearly odorless qualities help keep the skin hydrated and supple.
Extracted from sunflower seeds, sunflower oil is rich in essential fatty acids such as linoleic, palmitic and stearic acids.
Apricot kernel oil is mild and gentle, high in vitamin E, very beneficial for all skin types, including dry, mature skin, or irritated, sensitive skin.

There are two choices (select at checkout) for the oils used in the lotion:
Hazelnut oil, Almond oil, Grapeseed oil
Apricot oil, Sunflower oil, Grapeseed oil
Those with nut tree allergies should select the apricot, sunflower, grapeseed choice.
Since Grapeseed oil is one of the "drier" oils it is included in either selection to help cut any shine or residue.

Glycerin is added not only for its aid as a preservative, but also as a humectant which is useful for maintaining moisture in dry skin.

Cool and soothing aloe vera is well known in many skin care products for its reparative benefits.

Essential oils Chamomile and Tea Tree are a wonderful aid in healing and disinfecting irritated blemished skin. Anti-bacterial, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, these essential oils pack a powerful punch.

NOTE: Should you prefer the coconut free lotion but haven't the need for the tea tree or chamomile, these essential oils can easily be left out or substituted with another if desired. Lavender, geranium or rose are all good choices.

NOTE FOR THOSE WITH A COCONUT ALLERGY: Emulsifying wax comes from naturally occurring esters and fatty acids from the Palm Kernel plant and is processed into a pastille flake form. Palm Kernel oil (Elaeis guineensis) is derived from the fruit's seed.
It is important to note that while coconut oil is derived from the kernel of the very closely related coconut palm (Cocos nucifera), it is a different oil and sometimes used for different purposes in skincare formulation.

MOISTURIZING TIPS:
Moisturize as needed onto clean skin.
Applying lotion to damp skin will help the lotion seep into the skin as it air dries.
Due to various skin types, you may only need a tiny bit at a time or you may only need a moisturizer as a night cream.

Complaints people often have with moisturizers is that they seem to leave behind an oily residue. Of course a reason could be the quality of the oils used in the lotion, but it could also be because:
1. You are using too much at a time
2. You are applying the moisturizer to old, dead skin cells and it is not penetrating the upper layer of your skin. Exfoliating regularly with gentle scrubs or exfoliating cloths can help with this issue

Those with oily skin only need a minimum of moisturizing lotion or preferred cream.
Avoid harsh facial wash products which may just irritate skin further.
Very dry touchy skin may only need to be rinsed with warm water.
Over washing oily skin strips natural oils which results in the skin producing an overabundance of oil.

NOTE ON PRESERVATION:
Items are made in small batches as they are needed. The concept behind this shop is for the consumer seeking all natural products with the understanding that the items are not intended to sit around, and unless by request, only natural preservatives are used.
Natural preservatives are antimicrobial grapefruit seed extract, antioxidant Vit. E and the concentration of essential oils. What this means is that while these natural preservatives deter the growth of bacteria and molds, they are not broad spectrum and only offer a limited shelf life. Being the risk of contamination and loss of potency over time is present in any perishable product, please try to use the item within 3 to 4 months. Products which contain water such as the creams and lotions are the most at risk for contamination. The salves, containing no water, are very stable as is and are fine for months. Keep any of the products in a cool location, and out of exposure to heat and sunlight. Refrigeration will extend the shelf life of perishable items.

However, if you would prefer the addition of a synthetic preservative for longer storage outside of the refrigerator, I will use a broad-sprectrum product called Optiphen, a paraben and formaldehyde-free preservative. Optiphen is a globally approved preservative system created by ISP consisting of Phenoxyethanol and Caprylyl Glycol.
Please let me know your preference upon ordering.

Sensitive Skin Care Lotion comes in either a 4 oz. or 2 oz. size plastic bottle with a pop-up type cap. If you prefer the pump just let me know.

Also available in an 8 oz. size bottle with a pump type top.

I really appreciate the option to replace the Tea Tree with Lavender. That was one of many selling points for me: along with the absence of coconut oil and my love of sunflower oil. This product is definitely better than most for acne prone skin. However, it seems as though one of the ingredients used prevents it from absorbing into my skin the way I hoped it would. I'm thinking it's possibly the glycerin or the emulsifing wax. I used a different product that also had glycerin and, after about a week of continuous use, I noticed that my face had a slippery feel when I would wash it in the evening.

Lovely lotion! I have not had the opportunity to use it regularly, as I am trying out a few different ones at once, but it has worked well and not caused any breakouts yet. I also appreciate the little extra gift that came with it :)

Immune systems function differently so there is always the risk of a sensitivity even with natural ingredients. Shipping policies

Packages are carefully wrapped to ensure it reaches its destination safely.
If the package weighs 13 oz. or less it will ship by USPS First Class Mail. If it is something perishable such as creams or body butters during the heat of the summer I'll send it Priority Mail. If the package is over 13 oz. it will automatically need to be sent Priority Mail.
Packages that ship Priority Mail are automatically insured up to a value of $50.

I live on the east coast, therefore depending on to what zone the package is to be sent will determine the actual shipping costs. Shipping costs for Priority Mail varies greatly as a package travels further across the country. Should the package need not travel as far the actual shipping will of course be less, therefore the buyer will receive a refund on the shipping costs charged at the time of purchase.

For buyers with multiple items, if they end up overpaying on the totaled shipping costs compared to the actual shipping costs, I will reimburse minus the packaging costs.

INTERNATIONAL ORDERS:

Should a buyer choose the Other option as payment please be aware that I cannot accept personal checks. There may be problems with a check drawn on a non-US bank in a foreign currency. In fact, I'm not sure our banks will accept the payment. Payment needs to be as an International Postal Money Order in USD.

Contents of the order are itemized on the custom forms which is the requirement of the seller. Customs duties are the responsibility of the buyer. Each country has different limits and it is up to the buyer to educate himself/herself on that particular country's fees. Custom fees are often based on the dollar value. Businesses are not allowed to mark an order as a gift, it is marked as merchandise.
Below is a helpful resource for finding out how much you may have to pay in fees:

Due to restrictions on Bath and Beauty products we do not ship to Mexico

Please be patient with the shipping times for international orders. The minimum shipping time is about two weeks, but depending on location it could be a month or longer till the package arrives at the buyers address.
