“Jabari,” a masculine name that means “brave” or “valiant” in Swahili, is an African lion and a new addition to the Soft Hearts ™ collection. Although he and his brethren are nicknamed “king of the jungle” due to their regal appearance, Jabari’s native habitat is actually located in the south Sahara desert and in parts of southern and eastern Africa. Because Jabari and his fellow lions live in large lion groups known as “prides”, they are the only social members of the cat family, Felidae. Sadly, the population of African lions has declined by nearly one half since the 1950s.

Jabari needs a new pride, and he hopes you will take him into your home. You see, he doesn’t have a wild side so he just doesn’t “fit in” with his kin. He is very social but in a human way. His idea of socializing includes watching television on a soft couch and standing guard at the foot of a child’s bed on a stormy night. He loves to eat jelly beans, popcorn, and cheese fries instead of the items on a typical lion menu such as zebra, impala, and wildebeest.

At only fifteen inches long from the tip of his nose to the end of his tail, Jabari would be comfortable in any home. Unlike his cousins, he will not grow beyond his current size into an unwieldy mass of muscles exceeding eight feet in length and 500 pounds in weight. Jabari is also very quiet; he won't bother the neighbors with loud roars, and he can be trusted to keep any secret you care to tell him.

Jabari will come to you with a crown, because he wants others to be aware of his regal lineage. If he doesn’t feel like wearing it, he’ll ask you to remove it from his head. Except when he attends a formal event and/or feels insecure, he prefers not to wear his crown but to keep it displayed where he can see it. He would make a great birthday gift as well as a present for some one recovering from an illness or just needing general support and encouragement. A child would love to hug him, and he will make adults smile.

Jabari is made of new socks and is completely hand sewn. Except for the small blue and purple felt gems on his crown, I sewed everything by hand. I glued the felt gems to the crown because they were too tiny to sew. The sequin and bead trims were sewn onto the crown by me.

Jabari will be gift wrapped in clear cellophane with colorful paper shred.

Jabari is not intended for children under three years old because he consists of small parts that present a choking hazard. Do not machine wash Jabari. Spot clean him only.

If you would like a baby-friendly version of Jabari, please feel free to "convo" me, and I will gladly assist you. I have made custom, baby-friendly items. You may view them in the "sales" section of my shop under "Lovie" and "Princess Hayleigh." Thank you for viewing my shop!
