This lovely vintage studio art pottery vase is wheel thrown and hand glazed, with sgraffito designs (or etching) on the surface. The earthenware pot has a beige or light tan glaze that is textured (like sand), with an overglaze of brown with reddish tinges. The vase was purchased in Utah in the 1980s, and the intricate, repetitive sgraffito designs are reminiscent of the Dine (Navajo) pottery from the Southwest.

The piece is signed on the bottom with an M and the year, 1988. (I haven't been able to identify the artist.) It's in excellent condition.

Size: 4.5 x 3.75 x 3.75 inches (11.4 x 9.5 x 9.5 cm).
