Cyanotype on watercolor paper

Cyanotype is on of the oldest photographic noble print processes. It relies on the reaction of certain iron salts, which cure under the influence of ultraviolet light, forming the typical cyano-blue color shades. The manufacturing process can be described as a combination of photography and classical printing. Especially the highly detailed reproduction of the photography on one hand and the structure of the paper on the other giving the Cyanotypes its unique appearance.

Every print is handmade in our photographic lab. For this every watercolor paper is sensitized, dried, exposed, rinsed and hardened by hand. The used motifs are partly own photographies, which have to be further transformed to contact-negatives in order to use them for the cyanotype process. Main focus by choosing photographs lies, besides travel shots, on the diverse shapes, pattern and geometries of nature and architecture.

Frames and Passepartouts

Also the frames are built by us and can be ordered with the cyanotype prints. The appearance of the oak wood as well as the structure and color of the Passepartout cardboard matching with the intense blue. The frame-set consists of a glass plate,a rear panel and a suspension. The frame sections can be seen in the figures of the product gallery.

We offer this print in different sizes. The frames can be ordered in the same size or in oversize with a fitting passepartout. The gallery shows an 20cm x 30cm Print in a frame of 30cm x 40 cm.
