Description

This offering is for the XL size yarn bowl pictured. His name is “Jeramy” & he was born October 26, 2018. "Jeramy" apparently got into s scuffle in The Land of Kiln and received a scar (cracks) on his cheek. This is what we call a "self healing" wound. This means there is a slight crack, but the glaze fills it in & seals it. It does not affect his use and will not snag the yarn. It just gives him some character & good story to tell his friends.

The part that has cracked is the clay that is added to bowl to sculpt the face. It does not affect the integrity of the bowl.

The yarn comes out the nose. I also put a yarn guide in the back so that the ball of yarn can be changed without cutting it.

This is what it takes to make an original one-of-a-kind piece:

Each one is wheel thrown and hand sculpted. After they are sculpted, they are dried slowly. They go through a bisque firing which take 48 hours each. Then they are wet sanded and dried. The eyes are glazed, then faces are glazed, then the eyes teeth and nostrils are clear coated, then inside and the sides of the bowls are hand glazed. The bottoms are cleaned then they dry. They are loaded back into the kiln and fired to cone 6. The firing takes 48 hours.

They certainly make a great piece for a gift (hint) or to add to your collection (hint).

I have created a lovely (okay, maybe, a not so lovely) home decor accent piece for your shelf, counter top or table. This yarn bowl is a great size to hold just about anything... within reason. This bowl can be used as a serving bowl for chips or other dry goods, fruit bowl, candy bowl, change catcher... the list goes on and on and on. In fact, you can use this bowl for many different things.

However, it is made as a yarn bowl to hold that ball of yarn. I have been told they also make great string holders.

Each piece of pottery is given a name which will appear on its the birth certificate that will come with it. Some folks prefer to name their own yarn bowl. Just let us know if you want to do that and we will put that name on the birth certificate.

Dimensions (approximate) of a regular yarn bowl

My husband says there are too many faces in our studio. It makes him nervous. And the neighbors (all 50 of them) keep asking..." When are you ever going to make something pretty?" I answer... "This is as pretty as it gets." If you are the one to adopt this cute fella, you will have Something Lucky.

Everything we sell is produced in our studio in Hubbell, NE (population...52). Our stoneware is wheel thrown, hand altered and sculpted, fired to cone 5/6 and finished by hand one piece at a time. Every piece is an Original One OF A Kind. Teeth, eyes and most horns are created out of porcelain clay. All of our work is safe for food use and all of our glazes are lead-free and non-toxic. Once your get your new favorite piece in your very own hands, you can use it in a microwave, a dishwasher... even your oven( always put in a cold oven, not a preheated oven)!

A Note About Our Pictures: We do our best to take accurate pictures of every item, but bear in mind that lighting conditions and monitor calibration can change the appearance of colors. If you have a question about what you see, please contact us before you make a purchase.

Because Etsy does not have an option to ship items separately, we always indicate larger box size so that it does not combine breakable items. If you are overcharged for the postage, we will refund the difference once the shipping label is created. You will then receive a message stating... So the good news is you have a refund of $_______. It must be your "Lucky" day. You can always message us and we can give you a fairly close idea as to what the actual shipping might be.
