Description

LAST DAY FOR CHRISTMAS DELIVERY IS 12/17. Pictured here is my cast stone Celtic knot sculpture, Celtic Dogs, intertwined greyhounds for your garden or home. The design has been articulated with fantasy adornments in this evolved version (the original can be seen with my greyhound, Rou). The design follows a traditional Celtic pattern of three intertwined animals, be they dogs, eels, or lions. These greyhounds chase each other in an eternal (and happy) Celtic knot. The sculpture is 6 1/2" diameter and weighs about 2 pounds. It can be hung indoors or outdoors.

I will contribute a portion of the proceeds from the sale of Celtic Dogs to the Greyhound Welfare rescue organization, based in Takoma Park, Maryland. We adopted our wonderful greyhound from them in May 2011.

Celtic Dogs is cast from a synthetic rubber mold made from the original plaster carving. I use a combination of mineral oxide pigments added to C-144 masonry sand and blends of white and gray portland cements, and then hand cast this wall plaque in my home studio. Once cured, I process it with bronze, red and copper highlights over black and green (Finish AC 6 22 27). The piece is further protected by a UV barrier coating. I place a metal hook in the back while the piece is still in the mold, so this can easily be hung on a wall or fence.
