This is a beautiful ceramic wash jug that dates from the end of the XIXth century or the beginning of the XXth century (circa 1890 - 1910). It was made in the North of France in the famous faiencerie Saint Amand & Hamage, that had been famous for centuries for its quality earthenware, before closing down in the 1950's.

The pitcher was originally accompanied by a basin and used in the bedroom before running water was available inside the home. It is now a very sought after decoration piece.

Despite the fact that it is about one century old,the pitcher is in good condition. Being an antique piece, it has a few normal usage scratches, 3 little surface chips a the right side of the handle (barely visible) and one little line on the edge of the pitcher (photo 1)

Please see all the photos above for details.

Height : 15 cm ( 5.90 inches)
Width with handle: 23 cm ( 9.05 inches)
