Item details

Vintage from the 1920s

Materials

Steel, Iron, Rubber, Chrome

This is a Corona 4 antique manual typewriter in blue and black. When the Corona Four was introduced, it was the first typewriter to use the DuPont DUCO paint, a high-gloss lacquer originally intended for automobiles. There are Corona 4s in a wide range of colors, with the blue and black combination being somewhat rare.

Like all my machines, this Corona 4 has been cleaned, lubricated, adjusted, and is ready to use a soon as you get it home.

**COSMETIC CONDITION**
Cosmetically, this Corona 4 antique typewriter is in very good. The blue paint is desirable and collectible. The machine's bright metal accents and keys are in good shape, and the decals are still clear. There are some paint scratches and chips here and there, but nothing too significant.

Though this Corona 4 would originally have come with matching ribbon spool covers and a carrying case, this one does not.

**MECHANICAL CONDITION**
Mechanically, this Corona typewriter is in good condition. The keys are responsive, all control features function, and it is ready to type with a newly installed black ribbon.

Though I have replaced the rubber feet and key rest, the platen (roller) on this Corona 4 has hardened with age, and will leave indentations and the occasional cutout in the paper.

**INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING**
Yes, I ship internationally. If you're located outside the continental United States, contact me and I can provide a shipping quote.

**RECOMMENDED BUYER**
I believe this Corona 4 portable typewriter would be excellent for either a collector, designer, or a writer who wants a stylish machine to use for occasional notes, cards, or even letters. This is a great looking machine, and I believe is one of the rarer Corona 4 paint schemes. This vintage typewriter is ready to be used, but I would not recommend it for someone interested in heavy writing duties. A later, more user-friendly machine would be better suited to your needs if you intend to write a lot.

Thank you, and feel free to contact me with any questions you might have.

Returns and exchange details

I sell vintage and antique typewriters that are no longer made, some of which are 100 years old or more. As much as I'd love to be able to tell you that they will always be problem-free and last forever, I can't, because they won't.

Older machines can develop problems without notice, even if they're properly maintained and loved. I promise to accurately describe, photograph, or video any typewriter I sell. If you want additional photos or have questions about anything, all you have to do is ask. You can also inspect the machines in person if you are in the Kansas City area.

So, to make a long story short, I will accept most returns, but I do ask that you pay for return shipping. If your typewriter does not work as it should upon arrival, I'll accept a return unless it was sold as a display model. Also, if you do experience a problem, many times there is a simple repair that will solve it. I can often walk you through the repair so you don't have to send the typewriter back.

Shipping policies

Unless otherwise agreed to or specified, I'll ship all typewriters via USPS, FedEx, or UPS at my discretion. I will use the method that is most economical for my buyers, and will ship to anywhere in the continental United States.

If you are located outside of the United States, please contact me before making a purchase. I can usually arrange shipping, but I don't want to make any promises I cannot keep.

As far as packaging goes, shipping typewriters is notoriously problematic for some people. Typewriters have heavy moving parts (the carriages) that can be easily damaged if not properly secured. I lock the carriages on all shipped typewriters if they have that feature, but I may also secure them with additional safety measures. I use a variety of techniques to make sure your machine gets to you in exactly the same condition it was in when I boxed it up.

Please be advised that some typewriters are very heavy, and can weigh 40 pounds or more. These heavier machines naturally have higher shipping costs associated with them.

Payments

Accepts Etsy Gift Cards and Etsy Credits
Etsy keeps your payment information secure. Etsy shops never receive your credit card information.
I accept credit cards, PayPal, or Etsy gift cards. If you absolutely must have a machine and cannot pay me with either of these methods, please contact me so we can try to work out a solution. I know how strong the pull of a vintage manual typewriter can be, and I'll do my best to make sure I get your baby to you.

Additional policies

A lot of vintage stuff, especially typewriters, is beautiful and awesome. But I suppose you already knew that.
