Hand forged woodworking holdfast with unique leaf finial. Sized for perfect function in either a 3/4" hole or a 1". These work best in a bench from 3" - 4" thick but have been used in many benches both thicker and thinner. If your bench is over 4" thick please let me know and I will chose just the right holdfast. these are often used in pairs. These leaf finial holdfasts were made popular by blacksmith Phil Koontz. When Phil quit making these I took over where he left off, with his permission and encouragement.
11/16" diameter for the 3/4" version
15/16" diameter for the 1" version

(provides 5" of clamping in a 4" bench top)
These are unfinished for the best hold. The use of oil, wax or other friction reducing finishes will reduce their holding power.

Amazing quality and an amazing product. Holds securely in even my modified Harbor Freight bench (added 2inchs of oak under the top). One swift tap and everything is secured in place. Now to build a bench worthy of your craftsmanship.

I chose it for the leaf detail and I am pleased with it. However I have not bored a hole in my benchtop yet for it. I will post a pic and an update when I do & have had a chance to try it (maybe next week). Edit: very good tool. Wish I had bought one years ago. I picked this one because of the pretty detail, but besides being nice looking it works great. If you need a bench holdfast you will like this one, I do.

These things are a woodworkers best friend, and these being handmade at a forge are much better due to their "grippy" sides. They fit perfectly in 3/4in dog holes, and are a beauty to look at. The leaf pad is well detailed and provides the same clamping pressure as other modern holdfasts like mine form (TFWW) If you are a woodworker/craftsman, these things are worth every penny, can take a beating, hold you wood firmly to the bench top and just look classy! Get them while you can!

I have searched for some time now to find a traditional bench holdfast that would work with the 1” (25mm) holes in my Sjöbergs Elite benchtop and was so happy to find these. I ordered 2 and they arrived quickly and were well packed. I’ve already been using them on my workbench and they hold very well. The 2 are different from each other... which is great! They are individually hand made! Highly recommended!!
