One of the finest Georgian mourning rings we have ever had the pleasure of offering. Superb quality, heavy gauge and in incredible condition, looks to have hardly been worn.

Beautifully ornate and highly decorative the signet style ring is rendered in rich buttery 18K gold and engraved inside "James Roy, died 22nd Mar., 1822, age 57" The front holds a glass fronted compartment containing dark blonde plaited hair flecked with grey. The shank is decorated in gold lettering 'In Memory Of' in gothic script. Perhaps James was a relative of Rob Roy the Scottish outlaw and folk hero, we would like to think so!

This is a solid heavy gauge ring with the front measuring 13.6x15.3mm and the band at the back 5mm wide. The ring weighs 6.06 grams and will fit finger size 7 (US) size N 1/2 (UK) 54 (EU)

Bears full English hallmarks: stamped with the head of George III, leopards head for London, a crown and 18 for 18K gold, date letter 'f' Also stamped with maker's mark 'SG'

The ring is in excellent condition, with no enamel loss and no wearing away of the embossed floral decoration. The engraving inside and the hallmarks are still crisp. The glass panel has no chips or cracks. Comes with the antique ring case from W.M Marshalls & Co. Princess St., Edinburgh as shown. It looks as if the ring has been safely stored in this fitted box for a very long time, hence the near perfect condition.

A longer layaway term may be agreeable depending on the item cost and we are happy to discuss your individual needs with you.

Every purchase will arrive boxed in our complimentary custom packaging which is free of charge.
Items returned within our return policy are not subject to a restocking fee. If an item is returned outside the shops return policy then we reserve the right to charge a discretionary 20% restocking fee.
Antique jewellery, by its very nature, is more fragile than modern jewellery and can be more prone to damage. Many of our pieces are 150 years old or more, it is part of their charm and they will require special care.

We guarantee all our items as described but can not guarantee they won't need maintenance or repair due to use and wear. With a modicum of care, the jewelry you are fond of can last many more lifetimes to come.

We accept no responsibility for pieces that become damaged whilst in your possession and such damaged items cannot be returned.
With literally thousands of online sales under our belt we are accomplished international shippers. We ship worldwide and will dispatch your order with tracking within one business day of ordering. Your highly anticipated purchase will arrive quickly and be beautifully gift wrapped and safely packaged to boot. Global express shipping upgrades are available at checkout too should you need it even faster.
We offer a sizing service for our rings and a traditional engraving service for our jewelry. Contact us for details and pricing
We are unable to show our entire collection in our Etsy shop so if you are looking for something that we don't have please feel free to contact us by email, phone or through our website. We have many more items in stock than are listed and may have the perfect piece. However, we do not make custom/bespoke jewelry to order, our focus is purely on preowned vintage and antique.
We do our utmost to accurately date and describe our jewelry. We use a variety of techniques, testing and observation. All precious metals are tested whether hallmarked or not. We use electronic testing equipment (Auracle & Misar) and acid testing. Colored gemstones are tested with the Presidium Duo Tester and diamonds with the Diamond Selector II. We use industry standard gauges and digital calipers for measuring gemstones. When we have jewelry appraised we use independent gemologists and jewellers who have no connection to or vested interest in our shop.
Items in original condition may be returned for any reason. Notification of return should be made within 3 days of receipt and item posted within 7 days. Buyer pays return shipping costs. After 3 calendar days all sales should be considered final.

The full mailing address for returns can be found on your printed receipt inside your package. Include your receipt with your return. Tracking and/or insurance is recommended as items lost or damaged in transit cannot be refunded.

Upon receipt of the returned item, a refund of your purchase price, minus original shipping. Items ordered from us that are refused at delivery or returned to us as unclaimed or undeliverable will be issued store credit.
Return the item in the original packaging so that the UK CN22/CN23 customs form and/or the Royal Mail shipping is visible.

Send back via your local POST OFFICE (e.g. USPS), first class international mail is fine. It is ESSENTIAL to MARK the package and local customs form "RETURNED GOODS" in the description.

DO NOT use Fedex, UPS, or any other commercial carrier or service to return your package, doing so might result in falsely charged UK import tax/duty.

Any charges incurred by not complying with the correct return procedure will become the responsibility of the buyer and will be deducted from the refund due.
