Measuring 20cm long and 15cm high this nice puppy is perfect for your mantel. Given out as carnival prizes during the Depression era (before stuffed toys became the normal reward) these chalkware dogs are similar to today's Plaster of Paris (PoP).

In great condition for his age (over 300 dog years!) he has a few points where the paint has chipped off, and the odd air bubble that occurred when he was made - like you get with PoP in a mold. Other than that he has just a few tiny chips to his ears, but nothing that doesn't give character, and no cracks or anything that will develop into further damage over time.

Most probably he is an Alsation/German Shepherd by the looks of him, but as he didn't come with pedigree papers we're going to let you assign whatever breed you'd like to him.

Whatever he turns out to be he's a nice one alright and would look great on the mantel piece or in a bookshelf!
